So... Skyrim?

Post  FieldMarshall on Sat Nov 10, 2012 10:00 am

Who plays Skyrim here? What characters are you working on? Good quests?

I'm working on a two-handed weapon specialist Orc. I've sunk 28 hours into him (I started him in May, haven't been playing very much) and am considering a new character. My current one is my third.

You guys?

Bought Dawnguard a few days back, so using my level 40 Dark Elf to do that. . . I've upgraded him in archery, destruction magic, two-handed and light armour (yeah, a very weird mixture).

Also halfway through doing the Thieves Guild with an orc character Very Happy

Have you seen the Dragonborn trailer?

Dawnguard has funny errors with PS3, it supposedly crashes the whole system and breaks the Skyrim saves - hence why its not actually released on PS3

But I stopped a while ago, I was an archery/one handed specialist Nord

Hades, Skyrim always had bugs. If you do the civil war story line before the serial killer in Windhelm, then the latter mission bugs out. PC is good for that because you can get by it with console commands so you don't miss out on the missions.

Anyway, I have two profiles. One is a Nord warrior, heavy armor, two-handed weapons, Volendrung is a dream when smithed. xD

The second is an Orc spellsword, sword in one hand, spells in the other, he is more stealth inclined than my Nord tank. I thought it was an odd combo, but it isn't so bad with Beserk.

I was able to use both in the Dawnguard and pick different ways. The Nord is a Werewolf, and I have learned how to use it, so I decided to join the Dawnguards with him. I tried as a vampire with the Orc before the DLC, and was lucky that the Orc was more a stealth, but being a vampire only gets easier when you are in a guild (sleeping members). I got rid of the vampirism, but for the DLC, got it again. His magicka really helped with the Vampire Lord powers.

I am going to do a challenge with two new profiles when I have more time. I think I wrote that down in the old forum and put some objectives. Hmmm...
Yankee wrote:I am going to make two new files once I updated the version and the DLC comes out for PC. I have yet to pick the races. I will be doing a self-made challenge:

- The two files cannot do the same quests, unless main quests, burrows or two-sided.
- They cannot do the same Daedric quests.
- If any quests have two sides, they cannot be on the same side. (i.e. Empire/Stormcloak or Faendel/Sven)
- They cannot interact with the same guilds, unless there are two sides to the stories. (i.e. DB, Forsworn)
- They cannot have the same armor or same weapons at any given time. (Will be interesting when I find leveled items in chests, but won't matter if one is a mage.)
- The followers cannot be the same person, and cannot have matching weapons, armor etc.
- One is a werewolf, the other a vampire. Of course, one will be a Dawnguard, the other a Vampire Lord in the DLC. The Dawnguardian will most likely be the Werewolf. (@ Zwet Wink)

I don't know what races I will choose yet. If anyone has a cool idea as a requirement for the challenge, tell me, I need more obstacles.

I was thinking maybe these as well:

- The two players cannot be thanes of the same holds and cannot own the same houses.
- Cannot fast travel or wait, unless sleeping in a bed.
- Only jail time, no paying off bounties, unless in Thieves Guild. (You can always keep your bounty, of course.)
I guess I will be waiting for the Dragonborn DLC. Dragonborn looks good, new features and everything. I am hoping it rivals in quantity and quality with Dawnguard. I have yet to install Hearthfire. Why they made Skyrim have features for a Sim game is beyond me, the only thing that is mildly good for the game is the option to make a house, but make and protect your family? The Dovahkiin's income is adventuring into forgotten caves and killing bandits. I guess they are trying to get people off of Sims and buy Skyrim. Two games in one? The only thing I am doing with Hearthfire is making a shag shack and bring that blonde from Markarth there as a booty call. XD

I am aware Skyrim always had bugs, I was pointing out the reason why the DLC hasnt actually been released for PS3 yet - because it deletes the saves and crashes the game.

Lmao, well that sucks. There are those few bugs that ruin the saves without the DLC. PC gamers are the least vulnerable to them. tongue

I bought Hearthfire at the same time as Dawnguard. . . and have barely done anything with it. I went through a quite long process of buying the materials that I needed (I had plenty of money, it was just time-consuming), but even when you finally create the house you need to furnish it with all sorts of materials which aren't readily available.

I guess if I ever get bored I would properly furnish it out, but it just seems like a lot of effort for somewhere to store my stuff in Razz

I am happy with my epic, modified Dwemer house in Markarth. I went into some ruins once with light armor enchanted for carrying capacity and cleaned out as much as I could. I used console commands to remove some crap and put a grindstone, tanning rack and workbench in the room with the arcane enchanter. I was even able to drop some of the equipped artifacts like the blood extractor thing and the Dwemer cubes. It has more stuff than the Dwemer museum. Razz I even found Keening xD The alchemy room is set up with Falmer stuff. Boxes with Chaurus eggs, glowing mushrooms, and Falmer armor. Most of got extensively refurnished after the Dawnguard DLC. I don't want to give away spoilers. Wink The last thing I was doing was figuring out how to drop my Elder Scrolls without making them disappear. Now if you could make the Hearthfire house look Dwemeris without digging too much into console commands, then I might try it out.

It's quite customisable - you choose what furniture you put in each room, and the three 'wings' of the house can be a room of your choice (such as trophy room, greenhouse, library).

And of course you can then get a steward, bard and carriage driver to attend to your every need, and even adopt a child. . . if your vampiric orc is a fan of human children.

Actually, why are there no non-human children in the game? I'd love to see an orc or khajit child Very Happy

They'd make pretty good assassins - being tiny, cute/fluffy and acrobatic.
I can understand why there would be no wood elf, argonian or khajiit children, as their Skyrim populations are so small. The others should have children though Crying or Very sad

What about choosing Dwemer furniture? From the screenshots and trailers, the house just looks like a typical Nord structure.

Adopting a child.. I still don't get why they added that. The only thing I can think of is that Bethesda got complaints about the orphanage bit being too much. scratch

Well Breton and Imperial children do exist in a way, they use the same avatar, but just a slightly different skin color. If I'm not mistaken, you meet at least one Redguard child. Altmer/Bosmer children could just have pointy ears, golden skin tone, and that horrible posh way of speaking. Razz Dunmer would be more difficult.

I think they should have made Orc children, seeing as they are mentioned in the game. Only the chief has wives and children, but a population of 5-6 with 4 being female would only make it last 1 generation. Taking into account from what I learn in Biodiversity and the nature of the Orsimer, the low population in each stronghold would have to meet and mate, recombine to keep genetic diversity, maybe all the children are at High Rock, the Orcs are said to gather there from time to time. XD

Khajit children are kittens. Razz They should have made Babette be a Khajit child but, then again, that would have been an overkill. xD Argonian would be pretty cool. Didn't it say in the lore that the children don't have legs?

I can just imagine something looking like magikarp flopping around the streets of Whiterun Razz

As for the Dwemer stuff, I think it's only possible to have the basic Nord furniture. The 'style' of the house isn't really capable of being changed, as you only choose what rooms to add and what furniture to have.

I would love to see it so you can hire different architects who design each room etc differently, say an Argonian designer would build it in their own style or something Razz

That would be pretty cool, but would still not allow for a Dwemer-based house. Probably would be a Markarthian architect. Argonian-style housing? What the hell would that be, swamp huts? I guess we will have to wait for Elder Scrolls Online to see how they make the Black Marsh. I hope we get to see the Hists. :Q

Don't think I'll be getting TESO, specs are too high for my PC.

Really looking forward to Marvel Heroes though, a decent MMORPG with low system requirements AND it's the Marvel Universe. Very Happy

I am lucky that the specs on my laptop are good. The CPU is better than great, the GPU is above average and I have more than enough RAM. I should be find with no other program running and a fan under my laptop. Razz Plus I am above average as a beta tester, but I doubt that will help. :/

I am seriously thinking about using Slode as a backbone story for a Nord of the same name in TESO. <.<

Either that or a few other ideas I have stumbled upon. >.>
